Should You Work Out Today? A Quick-Reference Guide

There are days when you can't decide whether to work out or not. We have developed the Cranky Fitness Workout Quick-Reference GuideTM to help you with this difficult decision.

Technical note: to read the Quick Reference Guide, click on the image below.

Don't strain your eyes trying to read it as is. And don't ask me about technical difficulties that require this extra step, or I'll start cussing. Not at you, at Blogger.

Obligatory fine print:

The legal department wants you to know that charts found on a blog do not replace serious medical advice.
For that matter, the beagle department wants to know if you'll come outside and play.
The eagle department is currently dealing with ruffled feathers and thus is unavailable to comment.
The Smeagol department is concerned with the finding of a lost ring, presumed stolen.
And the regal department would like you all to sit up straight once in a while.

  2. So appropriate to my state of mind right now! Thanks for the kick in the butt I needed Merry! Totally printing this one out for keepsies!

  3. This is hysterical! And definitely what I need when I am reconsidering a workout!

  4. love it! Thanks for the little extra push.....was feeling lazy and tired this morning.

  5. Here I was, hoping you'd tell me to pamper myself and soak in a bubble bath instead of working out. *Sigh*

I'm printing this up and putting somewhere visible, so I can't make lame excuses anymore.

And Smeagol needs to get over it. Frodo took that ring fair and square.

  6. Print it out and posted on the door, ASAP. Question: just how big is your sledgehammer...itty bitty or Arnold sized? Seriously, not that I'm looking for more excuses, lol.

  7. Hahahah! I love me a good flow chart! Plus if I print this out and hang it up it will make people think I'm doing something smart like, I don't know, organizing my own company or something....

  8. That flow chart is perfect...I too want a picture of this said sledge hammer. I want to know if I just need to dodge it a bit or run away flailing...

  9. It needs a "Will you injure yourself if you workout?" loop. I'm looking out the window at freezing rain falling onto a thick coating of sleet, and wondering how to take the garbage out without breaking something. And being extremely grateful I don't need to go anywhere.

  10. That was great! I don't know what it is, maybe the cold weather, but I've been having a hard time motivating myself this month. Maybe this will help. :)

  11. I love it. And tell the beagle department that I'm always ready to go outside and play.

  12. Flow charts FTW!!!! Thanks, Merry!

  13. Just the guide I always needed - honestly why i didn't come up with it myself!

  14. That's awesome! I'll go for the playing with the beagle...that's exercise, right?

  15. heee! I love it. I am so printing this out. Will it motivate me? Probably not but at least it will make me laugh. =)

    ReplyDelete
  16. It's not the size of the sledgehammer, it's how motivated you are to avoid it ;)

  17. Very cute post. I couldn't even find anything to snark about -- Which is sort of irritating if you get my drift.

  18. *Sighs* Dammit. Fine. Stupid missing mariachi band.

  19. I love this post, especially because I was expecting it to be serious and related to colds and flus

  20. Just what I need. More kicks in the pants.

  21. That is GREAT!!!

This week, however, I don't have much choice. I'm teaching 10 pilates classes. Oy! How the heck did that happen?
Oh, right. Visions of dollar signs danced in my head as I said "Sure! I can sub those classes!"

  22. *cracks up* That was awesome! Especially the follow-through: "Do you know I have a sledgehammer?" "So What?" "Are you injured?"

    That was my favorite part.

(But I'm a little worried that some days a sledgehammer seems like a viable option to working out. At least to me.)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hm. That was my comment above, btw. Submitted it too early. Oops.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Does running from said sledgehammer constitute a workout?? Yes, methinks so.

    ReplyDelete
  25. OMG, its perfect!!! Seriously, I was sitting here this morning wondering if I should work out or not....

    ReplyDelete
  26. This was awesome and it is going up on my refrigerator immediately when I get home...

  27. We have a lot of flow charts here at work, but none of this variety. I wonder if anyone would notice what it says if I post it on my office wall? :>) Thanks for posting such an inspired chart.

    ReplyDelete
  28. We have a beagle department? Let's increase headcount in that one!

Love the flowchart, it makes us look like a much more professional operation.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That is funny! Just printed it off - do I need to contact the legal department to do that???

We need to have a flow chart contest....

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well, the Beagle department is in charge of pawprinting, so I figure they should be the ones in charge of other kinds of printing as well.

Crabby? Sorry I forgot to mention that I'd expanded the headcount at CF. These beagles showed up at the door and said they were looking for work... and they were so cute...

  31. Way too funny. I think I'll have to (strike)steal(/strike)* borrow this for my own blog.

*For some reason -- imagine -- Blogspot doesn't allow the strike html tag on Comments. So, you just have to imagine that the word steal has been struck.

  32. I LOVE it! printing multiple copies, one for desk at work, one for desk at home, one for bathroom mirror, one for bedroom mirror, one for fridge door...you get the idea, I need LOTS of reinforcements.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Stopped by to say hi, and Whoa, how cute was that?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Just what I need! Now can you do one for Should You Eat That?

    :)

  35. I just recently found this blog, but the facts that

    1. You featured a FLOW CHART
    and
    2. You linked tuckborough.net

totally make you my new blog crush!!!!

    *bowing on my knees*

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think I'll opt for playing with the beagles too. ;)

  41. OMg I love this. Putting it on my fridge at home!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I printed this out and put it on my desk wall at work so if I get lazy in the afternoon (or cranky) I can refer to it and get my ass to the gym. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I should but I probably won't, meeting a friend for a beer after work. Does that count.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Greatest post ever!!!!!!!!!!! I was feeling a little lazy today. Thanks for this.
