What's the "getaway" bit?"
Well, it's time for another cross-country schlep! Crabby and the Lobster will be taking off for 3 weeks or so in Fran the Van, to make their way from San Diego CA, to Provincetown MA for the summer... via Seattle.
Wait, via Seattle? WTF? Is there a longer route one could take to traverse this ginormous nation of ours? Well, perhaps not. But screw it, we have friends in Seattle.
As usual, blog posting will be a bit sparse while I'm on the road, but I thought I'd leave you with a pretty awesome giveaway: a big-ass set of Les Mills PUMP exercise DVD's, complete with a barbell set so you can replicate the world-famous gym class in the comfort (or discomfort, who's to say?) of your very own home.
And hey, notice the generous way that I give my reviewer side-kick, Sinner Ella De'Ville, the can of peanuts to give away, while I hogged the glory of the $200ish Les Mills Pump workout program? I'm generous like that!
Oh and speaking of which, Sinner put the Random Number Generator through its paces, and the Virginia Cocktail Peanuts were won by: StarvingBitch! Please email Sinner or me with your mailing address and flavor preference and we'll have 'em sent to you. And I also wanted to alert all of you that Sinner has a new post at her blog outlining a Miracle Cure to Lose Weight, so be sure to check it out!)
Now just what make the Les Mills Pump workout such a nifty prize?
Well, for one, it comes with an impressive crapload of stuff.
Note: due to my inability to snag the image properly, you might think the package includes social media widgets, a laptop, and three deliriously happy fitness slaves to assist you in sculpting your own chiseled physique, but I'm pretty sure those cost extra.
According to the Beachbody folks (who are the clever marketing geniuses behind P90X, INSANITY, Turbo Fire and RevAbs), this Les Mills PUMP thing "relies on high reps at low weight to help users achieve lean muscles and improved strength… and allows users to burn up to 1,000 calories per workout all while staying in-tune with music that is perfectly timed to each move."
Pretty cool, no? And if you go to the Les Mills Pump website, you can see that it comes with a bunch of different workouts, like "basics," "challenge," "pump and burn," "pump and shred," "revolution," "extreme," "flow," and "hard core abs."
But a closer look reveals even more options! For instance, they have one designed to make you Super Tall and Scary...
As well as one that will render you Brightly Colored and Insanely Cheerful!
Sadly, you need a U.S. mailing address to win, sorry about that.
To enter, leave a comment below, and at some point on our journey I'll announce a winner and give you about a week to get back to me with a mailing address. So don't forget to check in occasionally to see if you won.
Comments can be about anything, but if you've got any travel-related thoughts, advice, horror stories, or whatever, that might be inspirational!
While internet may be a challenge on the trip, I'll be reading comments along the way, and hope to be posting as well, whether or not I have anything interesting to say. Lack of a sensible topic has never stopped me from blathering on before.
Adios for now and good luck on the giveaway!

Safe travels to you and the Lobster.
ReplyDeleteOk Crabby...I really want this one. I love doing Body Pump at the gym but lately my classes are being overrun by women who squatting with 60lbs on their bars and taking up all the freaking weights - WTH!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd much rather grunt, curse, and sing along to the bad dubbed music in my own living room as I do with Chalene's TurboFire (did you know I am a total Beachbody junkie - I just dont sell the stuff or push shakeology).
So, I've tossed my comment into the bin...Pick me, Pick me, Pick me..
Yeah, shameless. But I've learned that if you dont ask you wont get a darn thing.
Safe travels as you traverse this great nation.
I was just looking at the Les Mills Program yesterday and it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI was just reading about this the other day, I have done body pump before when I was employed and could afford the gym and it is tough. So when I saw people on the beachbody website talking about it I went and checked it out. Pretty cool giveaway and of course I want in!
ReplyDeleteLove this giveaway and your blog! My husband and I like to listen to "This American Life" or "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" on long road trips. Seems to make the time go by much faster. Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteOooo! Mr. RNG, please pick me! I need to be tall and scary! :) I recently shoved Billy Blanks back in my DVD player and realized how I miss crazy kick your butt workout DVDs. This looks right up my alley.
ReplyDelete2nd - if you're taking the Seattle route, does that mean you'll be traveling through my neck of the woods on your way east? If so, MESSAGE ME. Fran the Van, you, and the Lobster are welcome at our abode!
I had no idea Les Mills was so huge on the international scene. Apparently it's taught in thousands of gyms across the globe. Ha! Who knew? Either way, best of luck on your trip!
ReplyDeleteaw...too bad about the canada thing. That looks like my kind of workout. I've been digging the Bodyrock workouts lately because they are kinda like that...
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your trip :)
I've got observed GREAT final results coming from a few of your readers following doing these types of core workout. You can see all the routines the following online for you to keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI recently discovered group power. I'd be eager to try this!
ReplyDeleteSince i've won from you before, i consider myself not in for this one, but i have to say that going across country by the scenic route through Seattle to visit friends sounds great. Meandering trips are some of the best.
ReplyDeleteI love body pump, and I would love to do it at home!
ReplyDeleteand i am really jealous of your cross country trip! good luck and have great fun!
I love body pump but my gym doesn't offer it which is no good! I'd love to be able to do it at home.
ReplyDeleteYou want to save money on the trip, consider packing a sandwich.

You want this audiobook for those long boring stretches on your road trip: http://www.amazon.com/Lets-Pretend-This-Never-Happened/dp/1611760852/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336062055&sr=8-1.
ReplyDeleteSeriously funny stuff! Safe travels!
I've done the body pump classes at my gym but it would be awesome to be able to do them at home. Have fun and safe travels to you and the Lobster!!
ReplyDeleteCooo-oooo-oool! I love pump class in the gym, and would LOVE to be able to do it at home!
ReplyDeleteHope the travels go well! Audio books have become our new travelling friends, and also crossword puzzles.
I LOOOOVE Body Pump, but my gym doesn't have it.
ReplyDeleteI hop you and Lobster have a great trip! Say hello to good ol' MA for me!
Oh, this would be great! My gym doesn't have Body Pump.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a really exciting program, I'd love to try it!
ReplyDeleteThey are all looking very cool! I want to be like them, perfectly fit body. Good Luck for those going to join, Keep safe!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great giveaway! Thanks! And have a great trip too!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win this! I used to do Les Mills workouts at my gym in Japan, but am too poor to join a gym in Canada!
ReplyDeleteWishing you and the Lobster a safe and harmonious trip!
ReplyDeleteSince I am Canadian, I will have to forfeit my entry, but it looks like a really cool prize!
OH CRAP!!! I so want to enter BUT I do go to the gym & I should leave this for home workout people - BUT so cool!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful trip & I can't wait to see pics!!!!!!
That looks intense! I'd love to win this giveaway. Also, have a fantastic trip!
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog when researching "fitness/exercise after hysterectomy". I am post surgery and craving a new exercise routine. This sounds like a good place to start! Thanks for laughs and have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteJust recently found your blog and I love what I've read so far. Safe trip to you and Lobster, and if you're on I-95 on your way to Provincetown, give a holler as you go through Mystic, CT...
ReplyDeleteI've never got to try Body Pump but a good friend doe sit all the time- so this is exciting! Have safe travels & know it is pouring buckets of rain i=her in the Pacific Northwest right now- you might want to re-think driving through Seattle. We feel like we are drowning :0/
ReplyDeleteWhee, what a generous giveaway! I'd love to try it out and see how tall I get.
ReplyDeleteTravel advice, if your pilot guns the plane during take off and it dies. Then he does it again. You will be stuck in a plane for 2.5 hours while they work on the engine. Smart really, as if they had let me off, there is no chance in Hades, I would have gotten back on. Also, if you just make a connecting plane because of aforementioned engine trouble, your luggage will not.
ReplyDeleteGood news: new cruise wardrobe.
Bad news: credit card bill.
Moral of the story: cruises are expensive and probably not worth the hassle of getting there
I would love to win this! I have done p90x and insanity along with most of Jillian michaels DVDs. I need something I can do at home to stay fitness motivated!!
ReplyDeleteI really, really really want this! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI agree, doing workouts really helps to keep one fit and healthy. I usually go for personal training courses that offer ways to slim down through proper diet, nutrition and regular exercises.
ReplyDeletehmm, super tall and scary or insanely cheerful?? That's a tough call.
ReplyDeleteHave a safe road trip.
Sounds like a blast!
( and I thought I was the only one that named my vehicle..)
Envious of your bicoastal lifestyle! Best of both worlds. Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteWOuld love to win! Have never tried this type of workout but looks fun and could really use the weights to expand my strength routine...
Thanks!
Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted the option to be tall and scary - if the random number generator picks me I promise funny pictures of me trying to recreate the promo ones. :)
I used to take this class & then the trainer switched to a different gym! I never realized they sold it for home use. How cool would that be to be able to do Body Pump at home!
ReplyDeleteWaves like a misfit!!!!
ReplyDeletexoxo
This looks like a really fun and challenging workout. It would be great to change things up a bit!
ReplyDeleteIt's got weights? I'm in!
ReplyDelete(Sensible topic? We can get that elsewhere; we come here for the Uniquely Cranky Perspective.)
Congratulations on not-flying. Sorry you're going so far north of me.
Mary Anne in Kentucky
I would love to win this give away!
ReplyDelete"We want to pump you up!" Would love to win this!
ReplyDeleteME, ME, ME!!
ReplyDeleteOk...thats just pathetic. :)
While I would be the happiest little mother in the world to win, I really am here to say how freakin awesome your blog is. Its about time I found someone who writes what I'm thinking, at least from a health/fitness/body image/ perspective!
Thanks, Crabby!!!
Kim
"We want to pump you up!" Would love to win this!
ReplyDeleteI want to be super tall and scary! Please pick me :)
ReplyDeleteI have never done body pump, but it is time to get into shape. I would love the opportunity to use this as part of my workout routine.
ReplyDeleteRIP MCA (Adam Yauch/Beastie Boys)
ReplyDeleteAlso, when in seatown (my home) if you want to eat some great (but hi-calorie) pizza, hit up Pagliacci.
Is it wrong to push pizza on a fitness blog? They may be why I need Les Mills PUMP.
If you are coming through South Dakota, let me know and I'll show you around! Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteOooooohhhh.... I have weeny girlie arms & I want strong defined arms. I so hope RNG picks me!!! As for your trip, since you're not going with 3 noisy, make that darling, girls under the age of 10, count your blessings! (but if you read this & realize how much you're missing out on, let me know, I'm sure we could figure out how to share that fun! lol)
ReplyDeleteI want to be hot and cranky, like yourself. :) Hope I win!
ReplyDeleteMmm, Pike's Market.
ReplyDeleteWould love to win your give-away.
I'd love to win this set! And have a great trip! I don't have any advice other than I don't recommend taking long road trips with two adults and three 50+ lb dogs in a compact car. It can be done, but isn't as fun as it sounds. Just sayin' ;-)
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, MORE giveaways!! I want the one that makes me bright colored and perky.
ReplyDeletei would love this!!! especially for those hot houston days where i sweat more getting to my car than being in the gym!
ReplyDeleteI recommend finding a really good long audiobook for your road trip. The Steve Jobs biography comes to mind. Mix in satellite radio for some variety, and NPR to keep up on the news. Count me in for the giveaway- I'm a home exercise DVD aficionado, so I'd love to try this. Have a safe trip!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, BP at home? That would mean no more excuses when I miss the class time at the gym! Crap!
ReplyDeleteCali to Mass via Seattle eh? Good deal. If you guys want to make the return trip equally Magellan-like, feel free to stop by my house in Florida for a home cooked meal and freshly washed sheets on the way home. And Fran can even park in the driveway (or garage if I win the pump set!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic giveaway. Would love this.
ReplyDeleteDamn, wish there were dozens more to give away, you guys are awesome!
ReplyDeleteFirst stop on our road trip is my mother-in-laws place at her retirement complex, so I'm off this morning to the Old Folks Gym-- where the locals tend toward the brightly colored and cheerful rather than the tall and scary.
And thanks for all the travel recommendations!
Driving day 1 involved lots of cheesey pop music, freakish chair-dancing, and roadside stretchy-band breaks. And coffee. LOTS of coffee.
I could really use some equipment to work out at home. These do look like a fun workout.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun trip!
I love the name of your blog "Cranky Fitness". We all get cranky when we have to do our routine exercise. But once we see the results, we get quite happy and healthy.
ReplyDeleteLes Mills program really seems working and will be useful.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try this!
ReplyDeleteSafe travels!
I was hoping Body Pump was a way to insert something into my chest and biceps to blow them up, using a foot pump, rather than working my butt off at the gym. Still, it's a close second!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for a new program and this might just fit the bill. You don't want to hear about my recent travel nightmare but let's just say it involved a pat down in front of about 500 people coming through security. Have a safe and fun trip!
ReplyDeleteFinally, a blog I can relate to! Just stumbled here and love a good getaway to get my ass in gear at home as well as the gym.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I want to be taller, so I really need this dvd set! :)
ReplyDeleteTravel tips - none, other than expect delays occasionally and bring along a book to keep yourself occupied!!
Thanks!
Would love to enter but don't have a US mailing address :'(
ReplyDeleteI had my new gym room built by Backyard Rooms Now im in the gym more than I am at "home". lol.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win. I love body pump but my gym doesnt have convenient times for me to to.
ReplyDeleteWishing you happy trails and travels! I would love to win this Les Mills workout system! I am all for being rendered "Brightly Colored and Insanely Cheerful"!!
ReplyDeleteDrive safely! And Lord knows I could use the muscles from Pump...
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of getting this specially after watching the infomercials many times.
ReplyDeleteTravel horror story: We locked ourselves out of our house at midnight just after we had returned from a roadtrip. No cell phones and the modern-day inability to remember phone numbers without the aid of said cell phones meant we walked 2 miles to our housesitter's house to retrieve the key. Unannounced. In the middle of the night. Where her parents were visiting. So, moral of story? Always carry your house keys when surveying the back yard after a trip.
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your trip!
ReplyDeletePick me please!!! I have been wanting that set of DVD's oh so bad...it would make my freaking summer! Safe travels!!!
ReplyDeleteThat set looks great! Have a fun trip!!
ReplyDeleteI *love* body pump
ReplyDelete-Steph
I've officially decided that if I were to win this giveaway, this will be the ONLY song acceptable to actually complete the workout to.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of the music or instruction on the videos, this YouTube Video and song are the only way to workout. Gold lamei (lah- may) skirt included.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3E2HeAfcdM&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Pump IT UP! lol
I got kicked out of my gym for being too mean to the stupid whores who wouldn't SHUT THE HELL UP!
ReplyDeleteHow I would love to have Les Mills Pump to do at home!
I have been interested in finding out more about body pump classes, but my local gym doesn't seem to be interested in offering them. For now I will just stick with my home workout routine.
ReplyDeleteI use this style of training with some of my clients and they love it. Not to mention the style produces weight loss results while keeping the sessions up beat!
ReplyDelete
